Paolo Pinto

Paolo's successful crossing of Lake Ontario was completed in 1990. The swim started at 2:10 pm from Niagara-on-the-Lake on 28th July, arriving in Toronto at the Argonaut Rowing Club at 2:07 pm the following day - a swim time of 23 hours 57 minutes.

Born on 8th August 1937, Paolo was 52 years old at the time of his swim. For his qualifying swim for the Lake Ontario attempt, Paolo swam 24 km around the Isle of Tavolara in Sardinia in 8 hours 15 minutes.

Prior to his crossing of Lake Ontario, Paolo had swum the English Channel twice in 1979 and 1982 with times of 16:15 and 13:57 respectively.

Paolo competed on the professional circuit. He competed in the World's Long Distance Swimming Championship in 1977 and placed 6th in the Capri-to-Naples race.

Subsequently, Paolo practiced as a lawyer, living in Bari, Italy.
